The Lead Ammunition Group
A UK process for assessing and addressing the risks from lead ammunition
Following concerns about the impacts of lead ammunition on the health of wildlife and people consuming game shot with lead, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) set up the Lead Ammunition Group in 2010.
The group of key stakeholders and experts were brought together to identify key risks and explore possible solutions, and to advise the government departments accordingly. Since the submission of the Group’s report to Defra in 2015 the Group, with some changed members, has continued to review new evidence and developments of relevance to the conclusions of the report.
This site contains information about the Lead Ammunition Group, procedural matters, including ministerial correspondence, minutes of the meetings, plus outputs from the Group and links to new evidence of relevance to the Lead Ammunition Group report’s conclusions.
